BCG - What is ConVic? ConVic is a 3 day board game event hosted by Billabong Board games and more specifically Julian Clarke of Melbourne. The event is held twice a year and allows people to come and experience board gaming (Euro gming) in a relaxed atmosphere. ConVic 4 ConVic4 was held on the 7-9th of July 2006, and it was the second ConVic event to be attended by members of Border Games. Neil, Patty, Bruce, Pip, David, Heather and Rob attended the Staurday and Sunday sessions and had a great time meeting new people, making friends and playing games they had heard of but never seen before. In all approximately 120 people attended over the 3 days (this is bums on seats and not individual people). The location was the Auburn Bowls Club in Munro Street, Hawthorn East.. Chris won the prize for bringing the most new gamers to the event and one of those people won the golden turkey award for being the most enthusiastic gamer. He was new to Euro Games and played a game of Antike and something else heavy without running away! 2006 ConVic Bowls Championships To help clear their heads at one point, Adam, Jo and Neil decided to try their arm at a game of lawn bowls. The competition was the first player to reach a total of 5 shots. For a bunch of amateurs there were some amazing shots. The 2006 Champion was Adam who secured the final shot by about three quarters of an inch (we had one of the bowls members come out to measure for us - it was that close!). Summary Venue - Excellent (hope it remains there next year) Food - Not so great. No catering and the options close by were limited. Gaming - Awesome Games Log Following is the list of all the games that at least one of us played and rated over the weekend. To achieve a 5 star rating a game must have been nominated as a player's single favourite for the weekend. Thurn & Taxis won the Border Games - Best Game of the Weekend Award with 3 people giving it the nod (out of 7).
